I have been a falconer for 15 years with a passion for small raptors. I have flown many different species both large and small, but focused much of my effort during my last nine hawking seasons on merlins. Over the years as my experience grew, and my methods and gear needs became more refined I realized that it was a challenge for most micro-hawkers to find a consistent source of lightweight proper fitting hoods. With that in mind I bought my first set of blocks and turned to the hoodmaker I knew best. With his early instruction and constructive criticism I was on my way. I am an artist by nature and it didn't take long for me to realize that I had a knack for making hoods. In one short season Big Jer's Hood Co. was created. I have been making hoods for five years now and the reputation of my hoods is growing steadily. I feel confident that I am able to provide the falconry community with hoods that fit their birds well, are lightweight, and aesthetically pleasing. I am the only full time hoodmaker in the US, and I am committed to the craftmanship and traditions of hoodmaking.
